There is a growing industrial optimism about electric vehicles that many major European countries like Germany have recently incentivized. Policies offer an appeasement to the contradicting interests of the car industry and the public’s demand for climate action.
The rising demand for electric vehicles is worsen existing injustices in the extractive industry especially in the Global South, where most of the raw materials are coming from. Instead of promoting and implementing energy reduction policies Governments are trying to fix the problem with the same capitalistic models as these problems were created.
Speakers from Indonesia and Germany will talk about the negative side effects and the false policies and investments behind. And elaborate with the audience demands and next steps.
