Yeabsra Awetahegn Beyene
I am a medical staff member with extensive working experience in Ethiopia with several international organisations. I hold a degree in General Public Health and Nursing. I am particularly interested in the interplay between health and climate change as Ethiopia is heavily affected by both.
The workshop aims to provide important insights in the interaction between climate change and health issues. In my work as a medical professional in Ethiopia I have gathered first-hand experience how weather extremes and natural catastrophes adversely impact the health and nutritional status of the population affected. This nexus is shed light on in the workshop. After an introduction to the literature concerned with the interaction between climate, poverty and health, the participants are asked to discuss strategies towards possible solutions in small groups followed by a Fish-Bowl discussion.
